This elegant Classical Revival mansion in Columbia was designed in 1823 by Robert Mills, the South Carolina-born architect later famous for the Washington Monument in the national capital. Set on landscaped grounds, the stuccoed house features a monumental portico and refined interiors, and it is one of the few residences he designed. Restored and furnished with period Regency and Empire antiques, it operates as a house museum interpreting antebellum domestic life.
