Antsiranana Bay, at the northern tip of Madagascar, is one of the largest natural harbours in the world, nearly enclosed by headlands and dotted with islands. The port city overlooks its calm blue expanse, ringed by dramatic limestone hills and the distinctive Sugarloaf islet rising from the water. Long valued for its strategic depth, the bay served as a colonial naval base and retains weathered fortifications on its shores. Its sheltered waters draw visitors for boat trips, diving and views of the rugged northern coast.
