The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Congo is the seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kinshasa and a major religious landmark in the vast Congolese capital. Its distinctive tapering tower and modernist form set it apart from older mission churches, reflecting the ambitions of the mid-twentieth-century Church. The cathedral hosts important national liturgies for one of the largest Catholic populations in Africa. Standing in the Lingwala area, it is a spiritual centre for millions.
