Housed in a prefabricated colonial building shipped from Britain in the nineteenth century, this museum in Calabar tells the story of the Cross River region, the slave trade, and the colonial administration. The elegant wooden structure, once the home of colonial officials, is itself an artefact of imported Victorian architecture. Galleries display artefacts of local kingdoms, trade goods, and material on the Efik people. Perched on a hill above the river, it offers historical depth and views over the old port city.
