This modest two-storey mission house in the coastal town of Badagry is celebrated as the first building of its kind erected in Nigeria, dating to the mid-nineteenth century. Built by early Christian missionaries, it was where the first Yoruba translation of the Bible was undertaken and where Western-style schooling took hold in the region. The preserved structure now serves as a small museum, displaying period furnishings and artefacts. Standing amid Badagry's cluster of heritage sites, it marks a pivotal moment in the country's history.
