Central Highlands of Sri Lanka

Cloud forest drapes the roof of Sri Lanka, where the island's south-central mountains climb to 2,500 metres. Three protected areas — the Peak Wilderness, Horton Plains and the Knuckles range — make up this property, sheltering an extraordinary concentration of species found nowhere else: the Horton Plains slender loris, the western purple-faced langur and the elusive Sri Lankan leopard among them. UNESCO inscribed the Central Highlands in 2010.
