Sami Abdulrahman Park is the principal public park of Erbil in Iraqi Kurdistan, a large landscaped green space with lakes, lawns, and tree-lined promenades laid out on the site of a former military base. Named after a Kurdish political figure, it has become the city's main recreational ground, filled in the evenings with families, joggers, and picnickers. Fountains, playgrounds, and cafes line the paths around its central lakes. Visitors can walk or cycle the circuits and observe the everyday life of the Kurdish capital.
