Founder's Memorial

A memorial park in Abu Dhabi dedicated to Sheikh Zayed, the founding president of the United Arab Emirates. Its centrepiece is a large three-dimensional portrait of the leader formed from hundreds of geometric shapes suspended within a cube-shaped frame, appearing to float in space. Surrounding gardens, water features and a visitor pavilion complete the grounds beside the sea. Designed as a place of national identity, the artwork changes appearance as visitors move around it, catching the light differently from each angle.
