A historic highland village in the Ismailli district of Azerbaijan, set among forested mountains and known for its traditional stone houses and old way of life. Long isolated by its remote location, the village preserved distinctive customs, crafts and architecture, with dwellings of local stone climbing the slopes. It has been recognised as a state historical and cultural reserve to protect its heritage. Its setting amid the wooded ranges of the Caucasus foothills draws those exploring rural Azerbaijan.
