Makravank Monastery

A medieval monastery near the town of Hrazdan in the Kotayk region of Armenia, its main church rebuilt in the 13th century in the classic domed style. The building is notable for the fine carving on its exterior and interior, including decorative reliefs and inscriptions. Set on a hillside amid wooded slopes, it commands views over the surrounding valley. Once an active religious community, the monastery declined but has been restored, and its handsome architecture and quiet setting appeal to visitors.
