This royal temple on the Thonburi side of the capital was restored early in the reign of King Rama III and is regarded as an important example of the Chinese-influenced architectural style he favoured. The ordination hall and viharn feature restrained, curving rooflines without the usual pointed finials, decorated instead with coloured ceramic tiles and Chinese motifs. Murals inside depict the Buddha's life in fine detail, and its position away from the tourist trail keeps the atmosphere quiet.
