A colourful Hindu temple near Nuwara Eliya in the hill country, Seetha Amman is associated with the legend of the Ramayana, in which the abducted Sita is said to have been held nearby. The riverside temple, dedicated to Sita, features vividly painted deity figures and draws pilgrims following the Ramayana trail across the island. Rounded depressions in a nearby rock are locally believed to be footprints linked to the epic. Set amid tea country and cool streams, the temple blends religious devotion with legend in a scenic upland setting.
