Ridiyagama Safari Park

The first drive-through safari park in Sri Lanka, Ridiyagama near Hambantota houses animals in large open zones traversed by visitor vehicles. Separate enclosures for lions, elephants, deer and other species aim to present wildlife in more naturalistic settings than a conventional zoo. Set in the dry southern lowlands, it was developed as a conservation and recreation project, and its safari format offers a distinctive family attraction complementing the island's national parks.
