An ancient town in southern Punjab, Uch Sharif is renowned for its cluster of medieval Sufi shrines and tombs distinguished by fine glazed-tile decoration. The mausoleums, several dating to the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, feature tapering octagonal forms adorned with blue and turquoise faience in geometric and floral patterns. As a long-standing centre of Islamic learning and mysticism, the town remains an important pilgrimage destination.
