Set at Sheikhupura near Lahore, this Mughal-era complex was built by Emperor Jahangir in memory of a beloved pet antelope. A tall brick tower, the deer minaret, rises beside a large square water tank with a central octagonal pavilion reached by a slender causeway. The monument was part of a royal hunting ground, and its serene reflecting pool and pavilion illustrate the Mughal love of formal water gardens. Herons and migratory birds now frequent the tank, and the site offers a tranquil, atmospheric glimpse of imperial leisure architecture.
