This artificial reservoir on the Korang River supplies water to Islamabad and Rawalpindi and forms the centrepiece of a surrounding park. Created by damming the river in the early 1960s, the lake is fringed by picnic lawns, terraced gardens and viewpoints popular with weekend visitors. Boating and fishing are permitted in designated areas, and the wooded shoreline attracts migratory birds in winter. Walking and cycling paths trace part of the perimeter, offering quiet water views with the Margalla Hills rising behind.
