A half-timbered bathhouse in the Beitou hot-spring valley, built in 1913 as a lavish public spa modelled on Japanese and Western resort architecture. Its ground floor holds a large Roman-style tiled pool ringed by arched windows, while the upper timber storey preserves tatami rooms overlooking the wooded ravine. After decades of neglect it was restored as a museum tracing the district's bathing culture and its role as a Japanese-era leisure retreat. The surrounding valley still steams with sulphur springs and public and boutique bathhouses.
