A fortified settlement on the island of Gozo built in the 18th century by the knights as a planned defensive town overlooking the harbour of Mġarr. Conceived as a walled refuge for the population against raids, it was only partly completed before the era of the Order ended. Its bastioned walls and gate survive above the ferry port, and parts have been redeveloped in modern times. The ramparts give commanding views over the channel toward the main island of Malta.
