This neoclassical theatre in central Sochi is one of the resort's architectural landmarks, its long colonnade of white columns rising among the subtropical greenery near the seafront. Completed in the 1930s, it was designed as a cultural centrepiece for the growing Black Sea resort and still hosts concerts, festivals and film events, including a major national film prize. Sculpted figures crown the roofline above the portico. Set amid palms close to the embankment, it remains a focus of the city's cultural life.
