National Art Museum of Moldova

The country's principal art museum occupies elegant historic mansions in central Chisinau and holds the largest collection of fine art in Moldova. Its galleries display icons, European paintings, and a strong body of national and regional artists working in landscape, portrait and folk-inspired styles. The collection was assembled from the mid-twentieth century and has grown to tens of thousands of works. Visitors move from old religious panels to modern canvases.
