This fairytale episcopal palace in the small town of Astorga was designed by Antoni Gaudí at the end of the nineteenth century, one of his rare works outside Catalonia. Built of pale grey granite with pointed towers and ribbed vaults, it resembles a medieval castle reimagined through the architect's imagination. Never used as a bishop's residence, it now houses a museum of the pilgrim routes to Santiago that pass through the town. Its whimsical silhouette stands beside the town's Gothic cathedral, a marvel on the Camino.
