Tower of Hercules

Ships have steered by the Tower of Hercules since the late 1st century CE, making it the only lighthouse of Greco-Roman antiquity still standing and still working. The Romans' Farum Brigantium at the entrance to A Coruña harbour rises 55 metres on its 57-metre rock — 34 metres of Roman masonry beneath the octagonal 18th-century restoration by Eustaquio Giannini. Iron Age rock carvings and a sculpture park share the headland. UNESCO inscribed the tower in 2009.
