Musée Gadagne

Set within a grand Renaissance mansion in the heart of Vieux Lyon, this complex houses both the city history museum and a museum of world puppetry arts. The building itself, with its arcaded courtyard and carved stone staircases, is one of the finest surviving noble residences of sixteenth-century Lyon. Galleries trace the city's development from Roman times through its silk-trade prosperity, while the puppet collection celebrates the local Guignol tradition and marionette theatre worldwide. A rooftop garden overlooks the old town.
