Bordering Parc Monceau, this museum is dedicated to the arts of Asia, particularly China, and grew from the collection of the banker Henri Cernuschi. Its galleries display ancient bronzes, funerary ceramics, jades and Buddhist sculpture, along with Chinese and Japanese painting spanning many centuries. A monumental bronze Buddha from Japan anchors the collection, brought back from the founder's 19th-century travels. Housed in his former mansion, the museum offers a quiet, scholarly experience away from the tourist crowds.
