Castillo de Almodóvar del Río

This hilltop fortress of Muslim origin was heavily reconstructed in the early twentieth century, restoring its towers, curtain walls and keep to a romantic medieval silhouette. It crowns a rocky spur above the Guadalquivir river and the whitewashed village below.
