The tallest sand dune in Europe, rising 107 metres above the Arcachon Bay shoreline near La Teste-de-Buch, with an uninterrupted Atlantic beach on its western face and a pine forest on the eastern side. From the crest, the contrast between the blue bay, dense forest, and open ocean provides expansive panoramic views. The dune migrates slowly eastward at roughly one to two metres annually, gradually engulfing the pine trees at its inland edge.
