A mosaic of boreal forest, glacially scoured bedrock, and clear lakes situated just 35 kilometres northwest of central Helsinki, making it one of the most accessible wilderness areas near any European capital. Trails wind through old-growth spruce forest and past lakes fringed with water lilies, and the park supports flying squirrels and white-tailed eagles. The Finnish Outdoor Association maintains a network of lean-tos and campfire sites throughout.
