The Cais do Sertao is a cultural complex and waterfront on the historic quays of Recife's old port district in northeastern Brazil. Built around restored warehouses along the tidal channels, it combines a museum dedicated to the music and culture of the northeastern backlands with an open riverside promenade. The renovated docks form part of a wider regeneration of the old harbour island, where colonial buildings meet renovated industrial sheds. Visitors stroll the quays past moored boats and public art.
