Set among the gardens off the Champs-Élysées near the Grand Palais, this theatre traces its origins to a nineteenth-century panorama building later converted for stage use. Rebuilt around 1900, it became associated with classic French drama, comedy and, in recent decades, musicals. The circular form of its earlier incarnation still shapes the site, surrounded by chestnut trees and garden paths. After a long restoration it reopened with modern facilities, remaining one of the more scenic theatre settings in Paris.
