Set in the historic Pelourinho district, this museum celebrates the culture and history of Salvador's street carnival, one of the largest in the world. Interactive displays trace the evolution of the trio elétrico sound trucks, the great Afro-Brazilian blocos and the music styles born in Bahia. Costumes, instruments and archival film immerse visitors in the rhythms of axé and samba-reggae. From its rooftop terrace overlooking the Bay of All Saints, the museum links the festive tradition to the wider heritage of the colonial old town around it.
