A fortified medieval town house in the coastal village south of Dublin, one of several that once guarded the small harbour through which goods reached the medieval city. Now a heritage centre, it presents living history performances by costumed actors and displays on the village's writers and history. A battlemented walkway offers views over the bay toward Dalkey Island. The compact stone tower, with its machicolations and defensive features, recalls the fortified merchant residences of the late Middle Ages.
