A castellated country house of the eighteenth century on rising ground above the Irish Sea north of Dublin, set in a demesne of woodland and rolling parkland. Built for the Taylor family, it combines a battlemented facade with comfortable Georgian interiors, some open for guided visits. The grounds include a walled Victorian rose garden and a herb garden, with panoramic coastal views toward the Mourne mountains on clear days. Popular for walks and picnics, the estate is now a public park close to the capital.
